Room Decoration for a Doctor Bedroom Decoration Medicine

Let's Look at Some Doctor Who Bedroom Décor Ideas

I am completely in love with Doctor Who, and I just got done watching the brand new Doctor, played by Peter Capaldi, in his debut episode. That is what has inspired me to write this article, a step by step guide to all the Doctor Who bedroom decorating essentials and accessories out there on the net. Here I have featured just a few of my favorite ways to transform your bedroom into a Whovian's dream, so let's take a look!

Begin Your Adventure Through Time and Space with Some Doctor Who Bedding

First of all, every themed bedroom begins with some bedding. Sadly, there is a shortage of official Doctor Who bedding sets out there, meaning we have to go a little further afield to find what we need.

You can find a number of Doctor Who art pillow cases and blankets out there, and if you already own some navy blue or other dark sheets you can pair them together to get the perfect look. My favorite set is the pillow above combined with the blanket to the right - it is based on the Vincent Van Gogh painting of the destruction of the Tardis, and it looks incredible!

If you are decorating a joint bedroom for you and your significant other, then above is a set of very cute His and Hers style pillows, but labelled Doctor and Companion instead. I'm afraid I can't help you out in the fight over who gets to sleep on which side though!

On the other hand if you are decorating for a younger person, on the right is a fun, cartoon style plush Tardis pillow which could be combined with some navy bedding to create a great Doctor Who bed.

If you have some existing plain pillows about the house and some spare time to get crafty in, it may be cheaper for you to make your own Doctor Who pillows! This is a great way not only to save money, but also to have truly unique and original decor in your bedroom. If that sounds like fun, be sure to check out the awesome tutorial above and learn how it's done.

Decorate Your Walls Doctor Who Style

Plenty of colors can work when painting a Doctor Who bedroom. Shades of blue can look amazing, though I would avoid the exact shade of navy blue as the Tardis, or you risk the rest of your décor blending in too much instead of popping out. Brighter colors like whites and yellows also look pretty cool, and neutral colored pastels and light grays are a good choice too.

Don't leave your walls bare! There is a huge library of Doctor Who wall art available online for you to decorate your walls with, from Van Gogh-style canvas art, to posters featuring the Doctor, to amazing wall decals. My favorite of the decals is the 'Timey-Wimey' quote one above. I think it's quite a clever piece of art, being shaped like the Tardis and all!

If you are a fan of faux propaganda poster art and pop art, you might also like the Dalek poster on the right. I particularly like its bold colors, which contrasts well with the typical navy blue color scheme of Doctor Who decor.

The Tardis has quite a simple design that makes it easy to draw and paint, which means if you're a dab hand with a paint brush, a cool way of decorating your wall or even your bedroom door is with a Tardis wall mural. This can be as complicated or as simple as you like - even just painting your door navy blue will enhance the nerd factor of your room tenfold. If you are feeling brave enough to paint the details, even better!

Here's a relatively unique piece of bedroom décor that can help you get into the Doctor Who mood the moment your walk through the door! This Tardis doors poster would look incredible stuck to the other side of your door, so that you walk into your very own 'bigger on the inside' police box every time you go to your bedroom. It's a lot of fun!

Illuminate the Darkest Corners of the Universe with Doctor Who Lighting

If your room is looking a little on the dark side, you can find some seriously cool Doctor Who lighting out there to brighten it up a bit. I'm a big fan of using string lights to add a colorful glow to a room, and I've found some truly beautiful Tardis string lights out there which I've featured above!

Remember the glowing Time Field crack in the wall of Amy Ponds room? Well you can have your own universe destroying calamity in yours too! Above is a tutorial on how to create a 'crack-in-the-wall' bedroom light, and it looks seriously cool. The end result isn't bright enough to light up a whole room by itself, so I recommend also having other lighting. Treat it as a decorative piece for the most part.

Finish off the Look with Some Doctor Who Bedroom Decor Accessories

Finally, it's time to populate your new bedroom with plenty of accessories that prove your fandom! Bedroom accessories make the room feel more personal and less empty, and there are plenty of options out there.

For example, there is a huge range of life-sized cut-outs out there. You can get each of the Doctors and a number of the companions in cut-out form, as well as the Tardis, which I've featured above.

DIY Doctor Who Bedroom Accessories

There is a huge range of Doctor Who action figures and figurines out there for you to buy, both in the US and the UK, but why spend money when you can make your own? If you are up for a little bit of arts and crafts, bedroom accessories are very easy to come by. For example, above is a fantastic tutorial on how to make a terrifying Supreme Dalek ornament to decorate your shelves with.

Last but not least, if you have some time on your hands and want something seriously cool in your room, above is an amazing tutorial on how to make a life-sized replica of the Tardis itself. It doesn't require an extensive set of tools, so it's an option for anyone with time to spare - and what Time Lord doesn't have time to spare?

Happy Decorating!
